Ageing Carer Support Project supports carers who are over 65 years of age (over 50 years of age if Indigenous), caring for a son or daughter under 65 with a long term disability. This project is to ensure carers are supported both during difficult times and in planning for the future. This is done through the provision of short term support packages, individual and group carer support.
WHAT CAN WE OFFER YOU?
A short term package that provides the support that a carer would normally provide for their son or daughter. The package period is for a maximum of 7 hours per week over a 3 month period. The package may provide information and links to ongoing services to meet the carer’s requirements. The packages may be accessed when the carer has a change of circumstances due to:
- Physical ageing, including falls and illness.
- Rehabilitation and recuperation after operations.
